Equestrian Team Claims High Point Team, Rider Awards at Home Western Show Monday, October 21, 2024
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln equestrian team opened its season with a pair of home western shows on October 12th.
The team earned the high point team award at both the morning and afternoon performances and Samantha Pinney was named high point individual rider as well for both shows.
Izzy Velinsky and Emily Jonas also both qualified for 2025 regional championships with their performances.

Nebraska Equine Extension to host “Race Nebraska and Horsemen’s Health Update” Seminar on November 16 Monday, October 21, 2024
A day of educational sessions and live horse demonstrations is being held for those that are interested in Nebraska’s growing horse racing industry as well as all horse owners.
“Race Nebraska and Horsemen’s Update” will be held on November 16, 2024 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Animal Science Complex on University of Nebraska’s East Campus. The event is sponsored by Nebraska Extension, Boehringer Ingelheim, and the Nebraska Equine Veterinary Clinic.
Treffer named high individual at All-American Quarter Horse Congress Horse Judging Contest Monday, October 21, 2024
Greg Treffer was named high individual to help lead the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Horse Judging team at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress Horse Judging contest in Columbus, Ohio.
Treffer, a junior animal science major from Cozad, Neb., scored 816 points to earn high individual honors and 580 points to finish in first in performance. He was ninth in reasons with a score of 234 and was 14th in halter with 236 points.
