Treffer named high individual at All-American Quarter Horse Congress Horse Judging Contest Monday, October 21, 2024
Greg Treffer was named high individual to help lead the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Horse Judging team at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress Horse Judging contest in Columbus, Ohio.
Treffer, a junior animal science major from Cozad, Neb., scored 816 points to earn high individual honors and 580 points to finish in first in performance. He was ninth in reasons with a score of 234 and was 14th in halter with 236 points.
Representing 10 schools across the country, the 59 contestants in the senior college division judged 12 classes total, including nine performance and three halter, and gave five sets of oral reasons, including three performance and two halter. Treffer scored a perfect 50 points in four of the classes judged.
Ella Eidson, a sophomore animal science major from Palmyra, Neb., and Elle Lunsford, a freshman animal science major from Elkhorn, Neb., also competed for the Huskers in the limited division in the contest, with Edison placing ninth in reasons and placing 24th overall.
The Horse Judging team will head to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma., next for the AQHA World Show on November 10.
