The Department of Animal Science announced the recipients of 108 scholarships on Sunday.
Department of Animal Science Announces Recipients of 2023-24 Scholarships Sunday, October 1, 2023

The Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln had 84 students earn scholarship awards on Sunday, October 1 at its Annual Scholarship Reception held at the Nebraska East Union.

The 108 scholarships awarded are made possible by contributions from individuals and organizations to support students in the Animal Science program. Over $140,000 in scholarships was awarded to students at the event.

The passing of the Racetrack Gaming Act through a Nebraska 2020 ballot referendum has caused an expansion in horse racing. A series of educational seminars by Nebraska Extension’s equine program have been developed to help those interested in becoming more involved in the industry.

 The Nebraska Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (HPBA) is sponsoring a “Race Nebraska Seminar” on Oct. 7, 2023, at the Animal Science Complex on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus, 3940 Fair St.

Livestock Judging Team Starts off the Fall at Southwest Regional Tuesday, September 5, 2023

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln livestock judging team started off its fall season with stirng performance at the Southwest Regional in Woodward, Okla.

The team finished as 3rd High Team overall and 4th High Team in Reasons at the all swine contest.

As individuals, Caleb Durheim finished as 6th High Individual overall, while Brantly Hoover finished as 9th High Individual overall.

The team will return to competition on September 24 at teh AKSARBEN Stock Show in Grand Island, Neb.
