13 Animal Science Employees Celebrate Service Milestones Friday, September 6, 2024
The Department of Animal Science has 13 employees being honored for their years of service to the University during the annual Celebration of Service program on Friday, September 6 .
The employees are celebrating a combined 180 years of service to the University. Thank you to all of our recipients for their continued contributions to our department.

Department of Animal Science Announces Recipients of 2024-25 Scholarships Wednesday, August 28, 2024
The Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln had 86 students earn scholarship awards on Wednesday, August 28 at its Annual Scholarship Reception held in the Animal Science Complex.
The 113 scholarships awarded are made possible by contributions from individuals and organizations to support students in the Animal Science program. Over $130,000 in scholarships were awarded to students at the event.

Department of Animal Science to Feature Speaker Dr. Temple Grandin in Animal Welfare Seminar Tuesday, August 20, 2024
Dr. Temple Grandin, a prominent author and speaker on both autism and animal behavior, will be presenting a seminar in the Department of Animal Science titled “Advancements in Animal Welfare Science,” on Thursday, August 29th at 3 p.m. The seminar will take place in Room B101 in the Animal Science Complex and is open to the University community.

University researchers study acute heat stress in feedlot cattle Friday, August 16, 2024
Lincoln, Neb. — Heat stress can cause an assortment of complications in cattle from reduced feed intake to death in severe cases. While places in the Midwest like Nebraska do not see many cases of chronic heat stress events where cattle are exposed to excessive heat for six or more days, acute heat stress events characterized by shorter exposure to excessive heat are typical during the summer and can be challenging to predict and prepare for.

62 Animal Science Students Named to Spring Dean's List Friday, June 21, 2024
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced 62 students in Animal Science were named to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Dean's List for Spring of 2024. These students had a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or higher based on a minimum of 12 graded semester hours.
Over 6,600 students were named to the Deans' List for the spring semester at Nebraska, including 591 CASNR students.
Congratulations to these students for their hard work during the spring semester of 2024!

Lena Luck Earns Teaching Award From National Association of Equine Affiliated Academics (NAEAA) Thursday, June 6, 2024
Lena Luck, an associate professor and extension youth equine specialist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was the recipient of the National Association of Equine Affiliated Academics (NAEAA) teaching award.
