Ciobanu and Spangler Honored at IANR Distinguished Faculty Banquet Wednesday, October 2, 2024
Dr. Dan Ciobanu and Dr. Matt Spangler both received honors at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources Distingusihed Faculty Banquet held on September 26th.
Dr. Ciobanu was the recipient of the Omtvedt Innovation Award for Research. The Omtvedt Innovation Award recognizes innovation and excellence in teaching, research and extension and is named in honor of Dr. Irv Omtvedt, former department head in animal science and IANR vice chancellor.

Rodeo Team Starts Season with Top 10 Finishes At Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo Monday, September 9, 2024
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhusker rodeo team began its 2024-25 season with multiple individual top ten finishes over the weekend at the Falcon Forntier Days Rodeo hosted by University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Freshman Lynsie Lancaster placed sixth in the average in goat tying, while junior Savannah Jensen placed ninth in breakaway roping. In saddle bronc riding, freshman Jadon Skavdahl placed fifth in the second round on his way to a seventh place finish in the average.

Livestock Judging Named High Team Overall at Top Notch Hog Contest Monday, September 9, 2024
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln livestock judging team started its fall schedule with both team and individual honors at the Top Notch Hog Contest on September 5 in Paragould, Ark.
The team was named both high team overall and high team reasons at the contest. Individually, Reid Richards finished second overall and 10th in reasons and Jaylea Pope finished 3rd overall and was the high individual in reasons. Ashlyn Robinson was seventh overall and ninth in reasons, Celilo Brun was second in reasons and Tharyn Barker was sixth individual in reasons.

Nebraska Block and Bridle Club Set to Host Annual Steak Fry on September 13 Monday, September 9, 2024
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Block and Bridle Club will host its annual Steak Fry event on Friday, September 13.
The event will be held at the Animal Science Complex on Nebraska's East Campus from 5-7 p.m. Presale meal tickets can be purchased for $10 at https://go.unl.edu/2024steakfry, or can be purchased at the door for $15. The meal consists of steak, cheesy potatoes, beans, drink and a cookie. To-go containers will also be available. The steaks for the meal are provided by Cargill, Incorporated.
