About Me

I met my wife in the animal science building. She is on faculty in Ag Econ. She used to teach in the same classroom as me right after my class. So, there were benefits to running my class long some days. We have 2 boys (10 and 12) and they have Greek names (Eleas Ephrem and Adonis Emmanuel).  I enjoy working with grad students and seeing data from all of the experiments we run. It is always quite exciting to see the data once collected, and still exciting to get papers published in journal articles. I have always enjoyed working with beef producers and their consultants. After 20 years, many of them are close friends. I am very proud of our program, department, university, and state and we need to continue to strive to do better and solve problems.

What is your position in the department?

Ruminant Nutrition faculty member, professor, Beef Feedlot Extension Specialist

How long have you worked in the department?

20 years since June 2001.

What do you enjoying outside of work?

I like to golf. I recall what I wrote for 10 year high school reunion that I was practicing for the senior PGA tour. I turn 50 in 2 years and won't make it unfortunately. As many of you know, we try to spend a few weeks each summer in Greece, which is relaxing. I like college football and enjoy watching the kids play sports now. I enjoy fishing and hunting with siblings when I return home to our farm area in Northeast Iowa.

What is something most people don't know about you?

Unfortunately, a few people in the department are aware of this. I have diverse music interests, and have a rock band poster in my office (although a bit hidden).
