Bill Dicke Inducted into Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement Tuesday, April 4, 2023
Bill Dicke was recently inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement for his contributions to the cattle feeding industry in Nebraska and beyond.
The ceremony was held on March 31st in the Great Plains Room in the University of Nebraska East Union.
Dicke, a native of Wauneta, Neb., is a two-time graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning his B.S. in Animal Science and Ag Economics in 1972 and his M.S. in Ruminant Nutrition in 1974. He later started Cattlemen's Consulting Service in 1981 out of McCook, Neb., before moving the business to Lincoln, Neb., and later would be known as Dicke Consulting, LLC in 2015. in The business went on to become one of the largest private feedlot consulting practices in the United States, influencing over 1 million heads of cattle on feed and earned him the 2021 “Legends of Feedlot Nutrition” by the Plains Nutrition Council at Texas A&M University.
Dicke continued to be give back to his alma mater, lecturing in graduate classes and collaborating on feedlot research trials conducted at feedlots operated by his clients. He was honored in 2013 as a Nebraska Block and Bridle Honoree and later received the 2019 Distinguished Service Award from the Department of Animal Science.
In addition to awards, the NHAA also inducted 10 new members into the organization for 2023, including Dr. Dennis Burson, emeriti professsor and Nebraska meat and food safety extension specialist.
Formed in 1916, the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement is dedicated to preserving and improving Nebraska agriculture. Each year, the group recognizes at least one honoree and elects new members. The digital exhibit for the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement is located on the first floor of the Dinsdale Family Learning Commons on East Campus.
