Burkey named interim head of University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Animal Science Friday, November 18, 2022
Lincoln, Neb.-- Dr. Tom Burkey, a professor of non-ruminant nutrition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been named the interim head of UNL's Animal Science Department. His appointment will take effect Dec. 17.
Current department head Dr. Clint Krehbiel will leave the post in December serve as dean of the Gordon W. Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech University. His last day will be Dec. 16. A national search for a permanent department head will be announced early in 2023.

Students compete in Department of Animal Science Academic Quadrathlon Friday, November 11, 2022
Six teams of students recently competed in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Animal Science Academic Quadrathlon on Nov. 1-2.
The competition provides each team of up to four students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of animal agriculture by participating in four rounds of competition: a written exam, lab practicum, an oral presentation, and a quiz bowl competition. Teams earn points by placement in each round to determine an overall winner.

Caitlin Ross Named Recipient of John Hallman Memorial Award Thursday, October 13, 2022
Caitlin Ross, a graduate student in the Department of Animal Science studying Physiology, is the 2022 recipient of the John Hallman Memorial Award.
The award is in memory of John Hallman, a former University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Animal Science student who graduated with a bachelor's degree in animal science in 1989, and was a graduate student at the time of his death. The annual award has been presented since 1993.
The award recognizes excellence in teaching, research, and academics among animal science students. Ross is the 22nd student to earn the award.

Animal Science Graduate Student Association Offers Annual Holiday Turkey Sale Wednesday, October 12, 2022
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Animal Science Graduate Student Association (ASGSA) is having its annual Holiday Turkey Sale. All sale proceeds benefit ASGSA and go towards funding travel and other group expenses.
Four sizes of turkeys are available for sale, including small (10-14 lbs.) for $28, medium (14-16 lbs.) for $32, large (16-18 lbs.) for $36, and extra-large (18-22 lbs.) for $40. The thawed and ready-to-cook turkeys will be ready to pick up on Monday, November 21st, and Tuesday, November 22nd between 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Animal Science Announces 2022-23 Scholarship Winners Monday, October 3, 2022
The Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln had 96 students earn awards on Sunday, October 2 at its Annual Scholarship Reception held at the Nebraska East Union.
The 123 scholarships awarded are made possible by contributions from 37 individuals and organizations to support students in the Animal Science program. Over $140,000 in scholarships was awarded to students at the event.

Lincoln, Neb. —Clinton Krehbiel, who has led the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Department of Animal Science since 2017, has been selected as the dean of the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech University.
