Research
My research focuses on improving the sustainability and profitability of beef production systems through the integration of cover crops, annual forages, and crop residues into grazing systems. By addressing producer-identified challenges, I aim to reduce feed costs, enhance soil health, and optimize land use for cattle operations. This work provides practical solutions that benefit both cattle producers and the environment.
Extension
My extension program is deeply integrated with my research, as both continuously inform and strengthen each other. Through producer focus groups and needs assessments, I identify the most pressing challenges faced by cattle producers, which drive my research efforts. The findings from these projects are then translated into practical, research-based advice that helps producers improve the efficiency and profitability of their operations. By working with producers to incorporate cover crops, annual forages, and crop residues into grazing systems, my program helps reduce feed costs and enhance sustainable practices.
