Dr. Deborah VanOverbeke began her role as the 12th Head of the Department of Animal Science in July 2023. Before she arrived in Lincoln, she served as the assistant dean for academic programs at Oklahoma State University's Ferguson College of Agriculture and as a professor of animal and food sciences. A Nebraska alum and meat scientist, VanOverbeke is a current member of the American Society of Animal Science, the American Meat Science Association, and the North American College and Teachers of Agriculture.

Summary: Discussion and reflection of selected current topics significant to agriculture, animals, and animal systems. Concerns and issues of society as they relate to local, national, and international usage of animals.
