Dr. Benny Mote joined the Department of Animal Science as an Assistant Professor and Swine Extension Specialist in 2015, and has served as a Professor since 2022. He is an ex-Officio Board Member with the Nebraska Pork Producers Association and serves as the Secretary of the National Swine Improvement Federation.
Education
Ph.D., Iowa State University, 2008
B.S., University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2002
Research
My research focuses in using deep phenotyping of novel traits in conjunction with applied and functional genetics to enhance commercially relevant traits of economic importance in swine production.
Extension
My extension focus for producers is to enable producers to maintain market access as well as understanding and implementing precision livestock farming technologies. My youth extension focus in on youth swine shows, especially those raising their own projects from birth.
