The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Meat Judging Team finished as the sixth high team overall at the National Western Meat Judging Contest in Greeley, Colo., on January 19.
The team placed second in beef grading, third overall in beef, fourth in lamb judging and placings, sixth in pork judging and specifications, seventh in reasons, and eighth in beef judging.
As individuals, Noah Summers finished as seventh high individual overall, fourth in placings, eighth in overall beef, ninth in beef judging, and 10th in specifications. Jaylea Pope was 13th high individual overall, seventh in overall beef, eighth in placings, and eighth in beef grading. Reagan Rippy was fifth in beef grading, and Madison Woehrle and Grace Schlueter were seventh in beef grading (alt.) and fourth in pork judging (alt.), respectively.
The team will travel to Ennis, Texas to compete at the Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest on February 2.
