Meat Judging Named Fourth High Team at Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest

2025 Southwestern Meat Judging Contest

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln meat judging team scored its highest point total in over two decades on its way to a fourth high team overall finish at the 2025 Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging contest in Ennis, Texas on February 2.

The team scored 4,156 points in the contest to finish as fourth high team. It also finished second in placings, third in beef judging, fourth in specifications, overall beef, and beef grading, fifth in lamb judging, and sixth in reasons.

Individually, Kylie Beard finished as third high individual (alt.) , tied for first in beef grading, and was first in overall beef (alt.). Reagan Rippy was fifth high individual overall, fifth in beef grading, sixth in overall beef, was third in specifications, and 10th in placings. Jaylea Pope was ninth high individual overall, 10th in pork judging, and second in placings. Noah Summers was seventh in placings, Grace Schlueter was second in beef judging, Kennedy Parks was second in lamb judging (alt.) and fifth in placings, and Madison Woerhle was 12th in lamb judging (alt.).

The team will travel to Hereford, Texas to compete in the South Plains Intercollegiate Contest on February 22.
