Meat Judging Finishes in 7th Place at International, Pope Named Second Team All-America

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln meat judging team closed out its 2025 season with a seventh place finish overall at the International meat judging contest in Dakota City, Neb., on November 16.

The seventh place team finish was highlighted by a second place finish in beef grading, third place in lamb judging and specifications, fourth place in overall beef, sixth place in total placings, seventh place in beef and pork judging, and eighth place in reasons.

Jaylea Pope finished in eighth place overall, was sixth in lamb judging and specifications, seventh in beef grading, and ninth in overall beef, in addition to earning second team All-America honors.

Kylie Beard finished in second place in lamb judging and ninth in specifications, and was the recipient of the Rachel Hamilton award.

Other competing team members joining Pope and Beard were Grace Schlueter, Reagan Rippy, Madison Woehrle, Kennedy Parks and Noah Summers. 

The 2025 team collected numerous milestones during the season, including posting the five highest team scores and the eight highest individual scores in the last 20 years.
