The University of Nebraska-Lincoln rodeo team capped off its season at its 67th annual Cornhusker College Rodeo with a national qualifier and some regional hardware.
Graduate student Carli Hawkins was Nebraska's top finisher, finishing in first place in goat tying and breakaway roping on her way to claiming the women's all-around title at the rodeo. She also finished the season as the region's reserve champion in goat tying to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming on June 15-21.
Other top finishers for Nebraska on the weekend were sophomore Lynsie Lancaster in fifth place in breakaway roping, freshman Hailey O'Daniel and sophomore Peyton Fisher in fifth and 10th place in barrel racing, and junior Cooper Phillips was fifth in tie-down roping.
The rodeo was also named region rodeo of the year following the event. It is the first time claiming the regional award since first earning it during the 2021-22 season.
