2020 Alumni Reunion Weekend postponed until spring 2021

Our 2020 Alumni Reunion Weekend has been postponed until Spring 2021. Please stay tuned to our alumni reunion weekend page at https://animalscience.unl.edu/alumni-reunion. We will host the Alumni & Friends Reunion and Block and Bridle Honors Banquet and recognize our undergraduate students as well as a Block and Bridle honoree. We will celebrate the rich history of our judging programs by recognizing all alumni from teams that competed in years ending with “0” (2010, 2000, 1990, 1980, 1970, 1960, etc) and "1" (2011, 2001, 1991, 1981, 1971, 1961, etc).

Block and Bridle Steak Fry

Block and Bridle is hosting their annual Steakfry on September 13th from 5-7 pm in the Animal Science Complex. Come relax and mingle with staff, faculty, and club members. The steaks are provided and cooked by Cargill out of Schuyler, NE. UNL alum, Laura (Gorecki) Oltman, has been instrumental in getting the steaks donated to our club for this event.

The event is Block & Bridle's largest fundraiser and is attended by over 350 people.

Blaine French joins Department of Animal Science Wednesday, June 12, 2019
Blaine French has joined the Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as livestock evaluation and youth education professor of practice.

Charles P. “Chuck” Schroeder
Schroeder -- 2019 Honoree

Charles P. “Chuck” Schroeder, a native of southwestern Nebraska ranch country near the rural community of Palisade, will be recognized as the newest University of Nebraska–Lincoln Block and Bridle honoree. Each year the Block and Bridle Club selects an honoree that has contributed to Nebraska agriculture through leadership, service, youth projects, community activities and involvement with the university.

Animal Science Alumni Award Nominations Sought Monday, March 4, 2019

We are seeking nominations for four awards that recognize the outstanding accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate alumni, and contributions individuals have made to the Department through their commitment to the livestock and (or) allied industries.

(New) Young Alumni of Distinction Award: Recognizes the significant accomplishments made by a University of Nebraska-Lincoln Animal Science Alumnus (BS, MS, or PhD) who has graduated in the last 10 years (since May 2009).
