Welcome to the Animal Behavior and Welfare Club!
The Animal Behavior and Welfare Club was established in the Spring of 2021 by a group of students – Glenn Meyer, Caitlin Buck, Ellie Granger, Tyson Olson, and Alexa Mitcham – with support from Dr. Ruth Woiwode. These students noticed that there was not a student organization related to animal welfare, although the topic is discussed in many classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Animal Behavior and Welfare Club is focused on providing knowledge and resources for students to properly care for animals in their current and future endeavors. This is achieved through monthly meetings and additional opportunities, such as the Animal Welfare Judging Team. A wide range of animals are covered, including but not limited to, companion animals, livestock, and animals in zoos. As the general public becomes increasingly interested in and concerned about animal welfare, we aim to help prepare students for their futures with knowledge related to animal welfare across sectors of the animal industry.
