The Department of Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was well represented during award presentations during the Midwest Meetings of the American Society of Animal Science held in Omaha, Neb., March 9-12.
The midwest section consists of members from 12 U.S. states, including Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, along with Canadian provinces, Manitoba and Ontario.
The team of Avery Eitzmann, Addison Hillman, Sam Loy, and Greg Treffer placed second overall in quadrathlon competition. They finished in first place in the oral presentation competition, and finished in second in both the lab practicum and quiz bowl.
In the oral presentation competitions, Caitlyn Ross (Physiology) finished as runner-up in the Ph.D. level competition and Brooke Rudloff (Physiology) finished in third place in the M.S. level competition. The oral presentation competition consisted of a 12-minute presentation and three minutes of Q&A.
Extension Assistant Professor and Feedlot Specialist Dr. Jessica Sperber was also the recipient of the Outstanding Young Extension Specialist Award.
