The University of Nebraska-Lincoln meat judging team finished fifth overall at the American Royal contest on October 19.
The team finished first in pork judging, third in beef grading, and fifth in placings to pace its overall finish.
Jaylea Pope and Kylie Beard topped Nebraska individually, tying for 10th overall in the contest. Pope finished in second place in lamb judging and fourth place in pork judging, while Beard was third in beef grading and eighth in overall beef. Regan Rippy finished in fifth in placings, ninth in beef judging and reasons, and 10th in pork judging. Grace Schlueter placed fourth overall in alternate.
The team will travel to Hereford, Texas to compete in the Cargill High Plains contest on November 2.
