You'll strengthen your partnership.
By working through challenging, new obstacles with you equine partner, you'll strengthen your relationship and will in turn, make for a more enjoyable experience while riding.
It's a stress-free, educational environment.
This challenge is geared toward the recreational rider. There are competitive events that you can participate in and earn awards, but for the most part, the clinics are non-competitive. Riders of all experience levels are encouraged to attend a clinic to learn what the AQHA/4H Trail Challenge is all about. There are three levels of participation: Level 1 (the training level), Level 2 (the intermediate level), and Level 3 (the master level). You will receive scores based on your ability to navigate the course with your equine partner. If the event is competitive and the participant is riding a registered quarter horse they are eligible for merit points on their horse's permanent record.
Convinced? Here's how to get started!
You can contact AQHA Recreational Advisor Larry O. Voecks at 402-649-4474 or email@example.com for more information, an introductory Clinic for youth or possibly a Leadership Workshop on coordinating and judging a AQHA/4H Trail Challenge event.
Learn to master new obstacles with your horse.
A variety of obstacles will be used and are designed to test the trust you and your equine partner have for each other. You'll receive helpful instruction on the patience and skills it takes to complete a task together. Although natural obstacles will mostly be used, man-made obstacles may be used. In either case, caution will always be exercised as safety is paramount.
Overall, this is really an event to come out and have fun doing new challenges with your horse. You'll come away from the event with a stronger equine partnership, some new knowledge, and you'll have had a fun time doing it!
What you need for the challenge:
AQHA plans are to recognize the following divisions: an All Breed Challenge Class with a Youth and Adult Division. This class will include all breeds of horse and mules. There is also a class for Registered Quarter Horse riders both within the youth and adult divisions. These participants are eligible for merit points on the horse if they register in the proper class and the horse is registered.
