Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium

November 4-6th, 2006

 

The 4th Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium will be held at the University of Nebraska Animal Science Complex and Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. The symposium is designed to introduce youth to career opportunities and current issues in the beef industry, as well as offer education and practice in the use of leadership skills. Six participants in the symoposium will be awarded a $500 College of Agriculture and Natural Resources scholarship.

  • Over 30 private and corporate businesses in Nebraska help support the symposium

  • Gold Sponsors for 2006 are Cargill Inc., Sweet Bran, Nebraska Cattlemen, Nebraska Corn Board & Nebraska Beef Council

  • Your room at the Cornhusker Hotel for two nights and all meals are provided

Activities included in the symposium are:

  • Presentations on goal setting and leadership development

  • Trip to the University of Nebraska Research Facility

  • Taste panel with Chef Jay McCarthy and Dr. Chris Calkins

  • Hands-on presentations on innovative cattle production practices

  • Career opportunity panel discussion with past UNL graduates

  • Networking with sponsors and panel members at banquet

  • Developing a marketing plan for a beef product
