Dr. Keown helped to organize and co-sponsor the forum entitled: A The Changing Face of the Rural Midwest: Latino/a Immigration Challenges for Communities and Institutions. @ This was the first meeting held in the county addressing these issues. In spite of September 11, we were still able to attract 110 participants from 9 different states and the country of Mexico. All arrangements for meeting and conference files were done through my office. An EARS report will be submitted to Extension for this activity.
He has also traveled to mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Canada, Switzerland and the Netherlands on various assignments when he worked with private businesses before moving to Nebraska.
Awarded a FIPSE Grant in May 2002. This FIPSE Grant (UNL the Lead Institution) has Oklahoma State as a partner with UNL. The Mexican partners are the University of Chapingo and the University of Chihuahua. Canadian partners: University of Manitoba and Laval College in Quebec City. The total four year project award was $206,000.
