The UNL Horse Judging Team teaches students the evaluation and communication skills which are important in the equine industry today. Students learn to evaluate form to function, way of going, various performance events and soundness. Judging team members travel to farms and horse shows where they interact with leading professionals in the horse industry.
While enrolled in ASCI 300E, Principles of Horse Evaluation, students will have the opportunity to travel to the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth area to practice their evaluation skills. At the end of this week long trip, the American Paint Horse Association hosts the APHA Spring Sweepstakes, the first contest of the year.
During the fall semester, students will enroll in ASCI 400E, Advanced Horse Evaluation. Students in this class compete against schools from across the nation at the Quarter Horse Congress, the AQHA World Horse Show and the NRHA Futurity.
