Three graduate students from the Department of Animal Science were recognized with awards and honors during the annual Graduate Fellowship and Awards Luncheon. The annual event celebrates remarkable achievements in research, teaching, mentorship and creative activity.

Shelby Davies Jenkins, a master's student studying ruminant nutrition under Dr. Mary Drewnoski, received the Outsanding Graduate Research and Creative Activities Award which recognizes excellence in graduate student research and creativity at Nebraska.

Two Animal Science majors will be recognized as Chancellor's Scholars during the undergraduate commencement ceremony May 18 at Memorial Stadium.

Alyssa Morgan of Elkhorn, Neb., and Micah Gengenbach of Hastings, Neb., are two of 81 graduates that will be recognized for their achievement during the ceremony. Chancellor’s Scholars are students who have maintained 4.0 grade-point averages on all collegiate work at Nebraska and elsewhere.

Five members of the Department of Animal Science earned Holling Family Teaching Excellence Awards at the 2024 College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Awards (CASNR) Luncheon on May 10.

Alli Raymond, undergraduate admissions coordinator for the department, received the CASNR Staff Inclusive Excellence Award. The award recognizes a staff member  in the college for outstanding contributions in diversity and inclusive excellence

Lincoln, Neb. —The Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement recognized two honorees and inducted eight new members during its annual banquet, held on the University of Nebraska—Lincoln’s East Campus in March.

Founded in 1916, the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement is dedicated to preserving and improving Nebraska Agriculture. Each year, the group recovgnizes at least one honoree and elects new members. Honorees are recognized for their contributions to Nebraska agriculture.

The Livestock Judging Team at the Houston Livestock Show
Richards Places as High Individual for Livestock Judging Team at Houston Stock Show Friday, March 29, 2024

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Livestock Judging Team had a strong performance at the Houston Livestock Show.

Reid Richards was the high individual in placings, while Tharyn Barker was the ninth high individual in sheep and goats.

The team was ninth high team overall, seventh high team in swine, eighth high team in placings, ninth high team in cattle, and ninth high team in reasons.

The team will travel to Laramie, Wyoming for the Meat Animal Evaluation Contest on April 11-13.

Nebraska's Hunt Seat Equestrian Team
Equestrian Hunt Seat Team Competes in Regional Competition Friday, March 15, 2024

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Equestrian Hunt Seat team ended its season in regional competition at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on March 10-11.

Anna Lampereur, Ava Nelson and Delrone Mukusha all placed in regionals at the event. Lampereur placed third in Open Fences and fourth in Open Flat, Nelson placed fifth in Novice Flat, and Mukuska placed third in Introductory Flat.
